In
Amsterdam, bicycling is almost second nature. You go everywhere on a bicycle.
It’s very
fast, it's healthy and there's no pollution at all and it's super quiet! And it’s
so much better than the public transport. You never need to wait.
It's a wonderful experience, really, (I mean) it gives you a tremendous
amount of freedom.
Arrive from the airport, go to Central Station, and you go and drop your luggage in a hotel, and then you come over
here and you rent a bike, next to Central Station. To bike is the best way to
get around town.
You can rent them everywhere. You can rent bikes for a few hours, a whole day
or a week or a month. Everybody has a bike in Amsterdam.
It’s really part of the culture and you really feel part of the culture once
you're on the bike. You can go to the
market on the bicycle, hear a bit of a tune, buy some flowers...
People take the children on their bikes and the kids like it!
Amsterdamers take the bicycling seriously, no matter what.
But if you’re drenched (wet), don't worry, you’re not made of sugar, you
won’t melt.
When you go out to the fancy restaurants or so, you don't see the
limousines, you see only bikes.
I find it always the best situation to reflect on life.
It’s peaceful just with myself and my bike.
